Naturaleza. LA ALBUFERA DE VALENCIA

La Albufera es un parque natural a unos 30 kilómetros al sur de la ciudad de Valencia.
Se trata de una laguna costera con agua poco profunda, separada del mar por una barrera arenosa.
En el pasado la Albufera fue una bahía que poco a poco fue cerrando su comunicación con el mar. El cierre terminó de producirse  aproximadamente hace unos dos mil años. A partir de entonces la salinidad del agua  ha experimentado un cambio total, y ahora  es una laguna de agua dulce con algunos arroyos y acequias que desembocan en ella.
Con el tiempo, la laguna ha reducido su tamaño debido a diferentes factores.
Uno de los más importantes es la plantación de arroz, cereal que necesita zonas inundadas y que se cultiva mucho en Valencia.
Como cualquier otro humedal, atrae a muchas aves y también ofrece cobijo a ejemplares de peces autóctonos de la zona.

It is a coastal lagoon with shallow water, separated from the sea for a sandy bar.

As any other wetland, it attracts many birds and it also provides shelter to specimens of autochthonous fishes of the zone).
